Astro is a family-owned and managed business with branches in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The company was founded by Tony Thakurdin and his wife, Shirley Thakurdin, in the year 2000 after Tony’s job as a sales representative for more than a decade was in jeopardy.
Tony Thakurdin’s vision, coupled with his passion for customer service and invaluable experience within the packaging industry, led to Astro’s humble beginnings from their double garage in Newlands West, Durban.
Armed with nothing but perseverance and faith, Tony Thakurdin managed to attract clients with quality products, reliable service and unbeatable pricing. Within a few short years, Astro became a force to be reckoned with in the packaging industry, forging key relationships with retail giants, corporates and national restaurant chains.
Astro soon outgrew the double garage and secured warehousing space double its size, and expanded to employing drivers and sales reps to help manage the demand.
In the past two decades, Tony Thakurdin’s vision and hard work has culiminated in Astro Decor & Packaging becoming a key player within the packaging industry. A few years ago, Tony Thakurdin joined hands with his son, Saiveer Thakurdin to take Astro to greater heights with a branch in Gauteng.
